Well, I finally made my little side trip to the fern farm. Met with Elanor, the owner of Fern Ridge Farms on Thursday morning. She was so nice, made my wife and I feel right at home. She took us though the two green houses and talked to us about the ferns and the tropical plants, we both found it very interesting and educational.
I did actually buy a few ferns to bring home:
Shiny Bristle Fern
Upside Down Fern
Autumn Brilliance Fern
Champion Wood Fern
Radiance Autumn Fern
Blue Fern
Regal Red Japanese Painted Fern
Victoria Lady Fern
When I get these all planted I will take pictures and post back. I did get a few shots of some of the ferns in the green house while we were there.

Looks like a lot of nice specimens.

That's cool! Did you go that far just to visit this place?

purpleinopp,
No, drove up to visit my daughter and her family, it was just a two hour drive through the little mountains from her house to the fern farm. Just needed a little side trip to get out of the house for a while and I had been planning on going for about a month. Wanted to take another side trip over to Dismals Canyon, but the weather would not cooperate.

That sounds like fun! I know there's so much cool stuff in the north part of the state.

I love to do gardening and there are many ferns in my garden that make my garden look beautiful and as you are also planting these specimens when it will grow they will also give a beautiful look to your garden.

Welcome!
What is you location, if you get a chance send some photos of the type of ferns that grow there,
you may be in a much warmer (or cooler) location. I had a lovely Macho fern but the extra cold winter this year killed it even though I covered it with extra mulch. So I planted the new Lady Victoria fern in its place. Most of my ferns here die back in the winter and return in the spring, but a few hang in there (not looking all that good) all though the winter. This is the first year my Autumn fern that was already planted in the garden has returned and it is really putting on a show.

I love ferns also, last year the ferns I had made a very pretty addition to my garden, this year with the new ones it should look even more attractive.
