Unknown shrub, years overgrown with ivy, found at the back fenceline of our new property...may be cultivated, may be native or wild being as we have a great deal of that also. Zone 9 / Sunset zone 17, far northwest coastal California. TIA....

Sherry, are the flowers bi-colored or solid yellow?

Solid yellow, Tee.

I'm going to check the natives for this area. It does not look to warrant being cultivated unless it's for scent and I don't detect a direct scent. There is a very noticeable sweetness to the air here that I would like to pinpoint, smells a lot like Sweet Mellilot.

I have a possible ID as lonicera involucrata / Twinberry Honeysuckle.....

That does look like a likely match. The leaves look right. I'm having a difficult time seeing the blooms but they look right as well.

Thanks, tee....it is the Twinberry...and says it's valuable for wildlife and I would agree since a Hummer was visiting it at the same time as I was.
