I ordered a Winky sedum online, and received it last night, and it's not variegated. I suspect that I've received a plant that's reverted, unless someone tells me it develops variegation later in the season. In my modest experience with variegated sedums, usually new growth is more variegated rather than the opposite.

Whaddya think? TIA!

Hi Celene,
I have sedum 'Pinky' and the new growth in the spring is pink and then it turns green. I wonder if this is the case with Winky.
Sedum (Hylotelephium 'Pinky') Look at my pictures in the ATP data base.

Where did you get it I have wanted this one for years. I'm all ears!

Both of those are really cool plants. Everything I read about Winky states that it is the new foliage that has the cream and pink coloration. Wonder what part sun exposure plays in how colorful the new foliage is?
Usually full sun brings out deeper colors.

Celene, do you have a photo of yours that you can post? It might be that it has not put on it's new growth yet and will still give you a color show this year?

Julia, does your Pinky go dormant in the winter?

Nope, it is not. The tag is, but no sign of anything coming up. All the rest of my dormant type sedum are up, except Pinky and Lemon Curl. I think I lost both of those.

Both Pinky and Winky are lovely sedum. Hope Celene's colors up for here this year.

I would love that Julia. Meanwhile I checked on your newly potted Polygala chamaebuxus 'Kamniski'. Both are looking happy and healthy. I think this rains has helped get them going.

Thank you for the photo Celene. If no color this year, you will more than likely have lots of color next year when the new growths comes on.
Where are you going to plant it?

I was thinking it may have passed the time the new growth has pink as my pinky turns green in summer or it may not be the right plant. It looks quit big. Where did you buy that? You must be in a much warmer zone than Lynn and I because the sedums here are just putting out leaves after emerging from the soil..

You may want to contact the place you bought it and ask about this issue. I believe winky should have blue gray foliage and I'm not seeing that in the picture.

Yes, thanks for the picture, it is a beautiful sedum.

I got it from Hirt's Greenhouse. This year, it's going to live in a pot until I see what color it actually is. I got Red Wiggles, too.

Green Grin! Good for you!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! You may try this, cut a few stems off half way and see if the new growth comes out variegated.
you then can put the cuttings in moisten potting soil and they should root for you. Maybe the cuttings new growth will push out variegated. Worth a try!

Keep use posted.

Have you ordered from them before?
Wow, that Red Wiggles is sure interesting. I just entered Red Wiggles in the database. Maybe you could post the first photos of this plant?
Stonecrop (Petrosedum ochroleucum 'Red Wiggle')

I'll have to see if I can find that one. Hurray!

Well, in the coincidence of the day, I trimmed it back and pushed the trimmings back in the pot. I'll report back Smiling

I got Red Wiggles at Hirt's also. I've ordered from them before, they're okay for a lot of things, I've learned that if I superduper want a special variety, this isn't the place. I really wanted Chamomile "Treneaugue" and it was listed on their site, received regular old Roman Chamomile, which I didn't want because of the flowers.

Bummer. I just read a bunch of reviews on them. They have sure had a lot of complaints. Sorry to hear about not receiving what you ordered according to plant name. That would be very disappointing.
I've only had that happen a couple of times in all the years I've been buying online. The nurseries I do business with are very quick to make the correction. Did they ever send you the correct plant?

Can't wait to see your Red Wiggles.
