My friend in Georgia has this in his garden and he is not sure what it is? Your ideas will be appreciated. I do not have a clue. Thanks in advance.

@JB LOL, you forgot the photo. Green Grin! We have so many weeds down here in the south ... I have a yard full and a few I need to photograph to try to get identified.

I agree with @Leftwood on this one; Toad Lily/Tricyrtis.

@JB, If that's what your friend has for weeds, I would love to see his 'good' plants!

He just bought this house and he is going crazy trying to figure out what is in the garden. The garden must be beautiful and he is trying to learn all he can. He said these are all over the place.

Tricyrtis, Tradescantia, Commelina, even Cypripedium, they all show some similarity!

Best wait for flowers.

That is a fantastic link. I sent it to him. Waiting to hear his comments. I think you hit it on the head with this one. I knew those leaves looked familiar and after seeing the link I feel sure this will do it. I will certainly let you know. Thanks so much.

@JB, Does your friend in Georgia live in the woods? Isn't that last plant a Northern/Northwestern woodland wildflower?
Can you friend dig up one of the plants to see if it has roots or a corm/bulb?
Or better yet, why not suggest he waits until the plant identifies itself by making a flower?
Just wondering.

He lives in Georgia and I have no clue where the house is located. I am going to suggest he waits for it to bloom. Thanks to all for the help. I will close this thread now.

It is a northern plant, read more about it on Wiki ..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C...

It might be a Cypripedium, it might not, time will tell. Plants can grow out of their natural regions in the right conditions, look at the distribution of all Cypripedium but these plants are likely to have been planted.

http://luirig.altervista.org/f...

I couldn't quite fit the leaves into any of the other genera which it resembles.
