Interesting. I thought they looked a lot like bottle brush (the red form that grows here) & wondered if they were related. Now I know.

Very pretty Tkitty! I see a pond down there & beyond the fence, is that a river?

Are those coneflowers? I can only see the bright spots of color & the seed heads but not make out what blooms they are. There's some blue in there too --- salvia?

The blue are mealy blue sage, the orange are Mexican hats. All from a packet of Oklahoma-Texas regional mix from wildseedfarms.com. Soon, I should have black eyed susans. They, and all the previous flowers have reseeded themselves for seven years.

On my list! I'm going to start ordering very soon.

Native Iris Patersonia serica. It flowers from winter to spring here. In the sun and in the shade.

Re. the question about ID, this is larkspur, Consolida ajacis.

Trigger plants are such fun. They have this hammer that is held down below the flower. When an insect feeds at the blossom the hammer releases and bangs the insect daubing pollen onto it.

The hammer then gradually draws down and rearms waiting to bang another insect. The hammer is really a column that is the male and female parts fused together. If you look carefully you can see these held below the blossoms. You can set them off with a piece of grass. It is fast.
