These are the only two photo's I have of this plant that was growing in the lawn a few days ago .... the lawn has since been mowed.

Your plant is hairy, S. americanum doesn't look very hairy, the tops of the leaves on Lin's plant are hairy.

The Solanum americanum has alternating leaves that are hairy underneath, particularly at the edges.

Thanks you two! There are a few species of Solanum found here in Florida (A. americanum is abundant!) but this one with the pubescent, slightly hairy leaves I'm leaning toward S. villosum.
