Quick Relief (Albeit Temporary) from Poison Ivy

If you are dealing with a bit of Poison Ivy, particularly on the hands or forearm area, quick and intense temporary relief can be had by running hot water (as hot as you can stand it without burning yourself) over the affected area. The effect won't last a terribly long time, but the level of relief is unmatched.

I am trying so hard to steer clear of it. The PA at the dr's office said if I get a cortison shot when I get the first itch it would help tremendously. Last year I did just that and it didn't get full blown but within a week I had to have another for the same poison ivy. Sad

I had it so severe 2 yrs ago that i would do anything to stop the itch. I would take a towel and rub it so hard till it bled. I also pinched it until I was black and blue. My upper arm was covered as I didn't see it hanging above my head Grumbling My dr also said it gets worse each time not better. Now I am petrified to get it.
