Last night I was driving home from work, and in my neighborhood. I saw the most beautiful dark brown, almost black cat in front of my car. So frail looking. So thin. I slowed down, stopped and opened the door slowly to see if I could catch the cat without scaring it away, but it bolted. We have a lot of wild cats in our neighborhood. It's so sad.

Please people get your cats spayed and neutered if your going to let them run free. If it were me, I would make it illegal to let your cats run free in the city limits. I get so sick and tired of seeing cats splattered all over the roadways and highways. This from people who say they love their pets.

I would make it mandatory to get all cats micro-chipped, and if your cat was found wandering you would be charged a stiff fine. Jail time would be just! Enough is enough already. No pet should be allowed to run free, where ever they will. You don't let your children, whom you say you love run free, so why do you let your pets do that??

Enough already, I'm tired of seeing these poor felines starving, hungry, running wild, only wanting a nice place to live and be loved!

I know this is going to tick off some of you that let your cats run free. I don't care. Tough! Get over it! No pet deserved this kind of love...if that is what you call it.

Alan...I am 100% in agreement with you!

I 2nd that agreement.
We have always had cats and the only time they get to go outside is if they sneak past and we bring them right back in or we let them out when we go outside and they come back in when we go in.
And when they are out they are always under our watch to make sure they dont jump the wall.

yep. Very sad. Thanks for sharing and reminding everyone, Alan. You have such a Big Heart! Well, we all do here, don't we? Everyone takes such good care of all of our creatures. I can't wait to get a new creature or two!

I was talking to a woman in the development area at the Humane Society to other day regarding their Telethon. She was sooooo happy and cheerful. She'd just adopted another dog. Said lots of the employees and volunteers foster or adopt pets (of course). I've always thought it could be a very unhappy place to work... but the antithesis is that when a creature gets a home it's ecstatic happiness. She's on the look out for a Poodle mix for me ;-))

Pray for the little homeless creatures. Love 'em all.

Thanks, Alan.
I have a couple of trips to take before I "settle down with my special someone"... may even retire and get to spend all day with my special friend!

We'll see.
Telethon is August 18 as I remember.

Alan, I couldn't agree more. I'm seeing so many dogs and cats running loose and looking sad and hungry and many more than usual dead in the street, hit by cars. It makes me so angry!! If you can't take care of your pet, please don't have a pet. Take the poor thing to a shelter or rescue. I know they are overwhelmed with animals, but at least the animal will have a chance. They don'thave much of a chance on the streets, especially this time of year in this heat!

I am all for spaying and neutering and responsible pet ownership!! Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.

Very sad thing, too, is people continue to breed for profit. Casual profit. I don't get it.
Oh, I don't mean "people" are breeding for profit (what a racket that would be!!) I mean people breed dogs and cats. I can see an occasional litter but not the puppy mill thing.

What makes me upset more than anything is to see an animal that has been hit by the side of the road. My dogs did not ever roam without their leashes and me attached to the other end.

Boo, that's why we spent a grip of $$ we really didn't have to spend to fence our front yard. We live right off 59th Avenue and have kids who aren't really good about watching for the dogs when they go in and out the front door. Now if one of the pups gets out it's not so bad or scary...

I absolutely agree with spay/neuter! Locking cats in a house I can't. Of course if I lived on a busy street they would not be allowed out. But cats need to be outside Big Grin
