No blooms here yet, but the buds are forming and that means the blooms are not far behind. I have been pulling the lower leaves off of many of my daylilies on a daily bases, but each time I go out it seems there are new yellow leaves down low on the outside edges of the leaves, is that normal at this time of year?

That is a normal thing for me this time of the year, I have been cleaning the daylilies in the hybridizing boxes and have pulled off several yellow leaves on the very bottom. I also have scapes and buds even on the baby seedlings I planted Sept. 30 last fall which I did not expect because of the harsh winter and getting them planted so late.

spunky1,
Thanks, until joining this site that is something I never would have even paid any attention too. I think the cold weather really caused my Iris to have a banner year, also I think my hostas are really benefiting form the cold. It could be possible the cold may actually help the daylilies in the long term?

Found a scape on NINA VERHAERT this morning! We added it last September. It came from Maryott's so it is on California time. That's OK; it's our first scape of daylilies in the ground. We have three on daylilies received from FL this spring.
