Fascinating! The last with 5 opened even looks like are spaced far enough apart to all open well.

Seed, I hope you share more pics because this is really a treat and they are gorgeous! I wonder who came up with the name of ditch lily. It should be called "Diamond Lily". If it can grow in a ditch, it has to be pretty special.

Well, I certainly do appreciate all the replies, of course it is the daylily that is getting all the compliments. I was out taking pictures in the bog garden and the humidity was so high my camera started to malfunction. Had to bring it inside and let it dry out for several hours before it would work again. Had my wife talked into letting me get a new camera, but when we got home (took her out for mothers day) it was working great again, darn! Well, actually it was a good thing, can't afford $550.00 right now. But, if anyone is looking for a Camera Sam's Club has a great deal coming up on a great little Nikon 3200 DSLR with two lens and the wifi adaptor for $550.00.

I am in the same boat, seedfork. I would love to get a new camera, but the one I use to photograph all the flowers is acting up. It just won't go completely kaput though! I have two cameras, but would like to upgrade to one nice one.

That is a good price on the Nikon.

This will probably be the last of the photos, the buds are getting pretty low now and today was the peak, with six blooms opened at one time. Notice the branch that formed late down low had a bloom on it open today. I was not able to get out into the garden till after three thirty so the blooms don't look as fresh as they should, but in the 90+ degree bright sun all day I think they held up pretty well.

Thanks for all the interest and all the replies, I was amazed to see how all the buds eventually had room to bloom, I would have never have guessed how as they developed they spread out and bloomed in a normal fashion, truly fascinating!

When it bloomed, I was so thrilled to see that it was a ditch lily! I'm sure most of us weren't expecting that! I have always loved ditch lilies, and will always have them. I think this just gave me a whole new appreciation for them! I never expected one to surprise me like this one did! I found a scape on my clump today, and I can't wait to see it bloom!

I've never seen a ditch lily with so many flowers. Just so pretty. I, too, have a soft spot for these.

Thank you Seed. That was special.
