I would love to, mon cher Inky. Weather is becoming very warm in Phoenix. Susie has to get me up very early to go for my walk. I like to sleep LATE! Beauty rest at the moment.

No new pic today but just wanted to share. We've been together 4 1/2 weeks...

I took Lexie to have her teeth cleaned yesterday. I'm kind of doing some major maintenance and assessment to have a benchmark status going forward. So, of course they put her under for a bit... I took her at 8am and they called me at 10:30am to tell me all was well, good teeth, they wanted to monitor, pick her up at 5pm. It wasn't really planned but that day my guys started work on replacing 6 windows in my house (more energy efficient and TAX CREDIT). Very noisy cutting into the dry wall and block. So it was good she was away. The guys didn't finish yesterday and came back today. Lexie was home, of course. They were here from 8 - 4 pm. Loud noises.... Lexie doesn't even flinch with the noise. She preferred to lay on the tile only 10 feet from the activity, presumably sleeping. It's amazing to watch this and wonder what sort of life she had prior to me. I know the couple was older and well off and probably social. But, she is fearless of loud noise (and, yes, she still has her hearing Hilarious! )

More to discover. She's really great but needs socialization with other dogs. INKY (aka JaeRae) ( *Blush* ) suggested maybe walking her with anther dog/owner to development "companion" status. Looking for that person!

Glad her teeth are good. Inky schedules his cleanings for October because they run a speciasl then, it's still about $270. We do lots of tooth briushing in between and still by now, he could use a cleaning; he builds tarter very readily, so I may just break down and get it done sooner. I'd rather spread the major costs out a bit (no pun) though and he just had all of his tests and shots last weekish. Surpisingly none of my big poodles were concerned about noise. Seems they would only bark to alert. Inky hates rain and will boycott eating and drinking accordingly so that he doesn't have to go out, but even fireworks (which go on almost all summer here because of all of the festivals) don't seem to phase him. I'm not surprised Lexie was not bothered; probably was just relieved to be "home" with you again. How was she when you left her there? Did she seem upset?

When I took her to the vet 2 weeks ago for blood work/check up she entered office readily, greeted the Wheaton Terrier and a cat. Short term greeting seems to be best. If we linger she gets "antsy"... read "growl". She greeting the doc and 2 technicians happily. When I took her to same office/vet for teeth cleaning Wednesday she walked in eagerly, seemed to know the reception area... we entered an exam room. New Tech walked in and she looked up at the young gal, stood on hind legs and lightly put paws on her arm. That's a no-no under any other circumstances but she was being so familiar and gentle. The girl greeted her. Lexie stared at the girl. I wondered if the girl looked like someone Lexie had known in her former life. They led her back to the "back offices". I picked her up at 5pm. They brought her in and she was ALL OVER ME. Such a funny wiggly girl. Again, she leaned up to the same Tech. We went home and watched the workers finish up. Yesterday they arrived 8am and started with the noise.

My other two standards were not frightened or startled by noise. I used to take them out to a sheltered patio during severe monsoon activity (rain, lightning, thunder) and they would just relax on the floor not flinching. Must be in the genes.

Oh! I wish we could have been there to see Lexie greet the tech! That's adorable!

Yep, maybe noise doesn't bother these dawgs because they know just as well as WE do what it is and when to worry about it. Inx will bark at lesser noises if they are unknown, like once I left the broom against the kitchen wall and later when we were in the living room, it fell: BOY! Did HE go OFF! This is good! Always want to yell at potential intruders unknown! Poor delivery folks get yelled at everytime! He likes the postal carrier now that we know him. Grocery delivery and Work people, once I introduce them are fine, INX will just stay out of their way and watch.

I bet Lexie was sooo cute when she saw you! Especially after her last experience, it's good for her to trust that her new caretaker will return. Guess you're a team!
