When I moved here in '97, a friend brought me several blue Iris. She's gone now, and so are the tags. I haven't been able to figure them out for years now.

The first one is a reliable re-bloomer in the fall. It's about 33' tall. My camera goes slightly blue.. It's a smidge toward to purple. Beard is blue at the tips.

The next one is shorter at around 26" and has a white beard. If it's the same one I have planted somewhere else in the garden, it's also a re-bloomer. Sorry that one picture is rotated Confused

And finally, the one I call mottled Blue. Didn't measure this one, but over 30".. maybe 34"-ish

Can't help you with identification, Sherry -- but they're all beautiful! I agree with Vi -- the first one is exceptional -- and a rebloomer too!! Lovey dubby

That first one reminds me of one of the "recurring" series of blue/violet rebloomers ( I think they were Hager irises?) anyway, check around for some pics, maybe the AIS wiki, or the data base here, and look for Recurring Dreams (or Delight). I don't grow any of them (yet, anyway !), so I have no pictures, but they would be mostly late 80's, early 90's intros, so the time frame would be right ....Arlyn

Arlyn, a Hager iris would be good possibility since he was from Calif. too. I just checked the database and Recurring Dream is a medium purple with a blue-white beard.
Maybe this one? Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Blue Anew')

The height is about spot on for "Blue Anew". Sherry, did you measure all of the stalks or did you just have one?

Thank-you, they've all been great garden plants.
Arlyn, thanks for the suggestions. In googling them, I found the reblooming iris page. I've pulled off all the blue ones, made a list, and am researching.
A couple off the bat that look promising for #1 are 'Caribbean Dream' (Schreiner '90) and 'Ocean Pacific' (Ghio '88). Also 'Sonata in Blue'.
'Sapphire Hills' looks like a ringer, except that it's not a rebloomer.
Calif. Sue- I'll research 'Blue Anew' some more, but the picture I pulled up looks like a possiblity too. (I've seen many of your pictures in the database-we have a lot of plants in common)

#2- 'Lake Reprise'?? 'Winds of Change'??
#3 'Genteel'??

I will often buy plants purely on their names. So Sapphire Hills would work (sapphire is my birthstone). I thought I remembered one was named Blue Denim, but now know that it is a SBD, but I ran across one named 'Stonewashed', but haven't found a picture yet.

And so the research continues...
I also hope to be taking flowers to our next society meeting to see if anyone recognizes them.

Greg,
I've measured #1 twice.. 29"& 33". They're all pretty close, and I've noticed that mine are often a little shorter than the registered height. "Hello Darkness" is about 32" in my garden and registered at 37". Whispering Falls 31" & registered at 36".

Actually Sherry, many of the images I upload are from online nurseries that have given us permission. My actual plant inventory can be found in my profile. Green Grin!

Researching is fun, although I can get totally distracted by all kinds of things when I am on the hunt! Thumbs up

Don't take the Non-reblooming thing to serious, as many iris rebloom, but weren't registered as rebloomers. If you check the 'parentage", you may find a rebloomer in the line-up, and remember, you're in a part of the country where re bloom comes pretty easy!....Arlyn

That's true. I have

which was not registered as a rebloomer and it reblooms usually in Nov. for me.

It seems I have more rebloomers that don't, than those that do..

Sue, I was probably looking at your profile too Big Grin And yes... I've got the "bright shiny object syndrome".. sooo easily distracted. 'Honey Scoop'
is divine.

Any Nov. rebloom here would be frozen. But Hager irises would be all over so you could check out many inventories. See Winterberry Iris Gardens as they specialize in rebloomers.

Ok.. at our Iris meeting tonight, I showed two of these to Joe Ghio. I didn't get any definitive answers, but he thought I should look at Lauer's introductions for #1.. For #3, he thought that it had the same form as Delta Blues. I looked at Color Me Blue, which is an offspring of DB, and a possibility...
The database here is an amazing resource..

Did you have any out of town guests at the meeting Sherry? I was wondering if Brad, @ARUBA1334 made it. I think he was supposed to be there on the 18th.
