Allow me to introduce myself. My nickname is Kabby and I've been away from daylilies for about 4 yrs. I was very involved in Tinker's, an original Munson Maniac. All it took was a friend asking me for a daylily in my overgrown, weed infested, neglected beds to get me off and running again. I've got about a 1000 pictures to post to the plant database. I adore UFs and spiders. I'm looking forward to meeting y'all!

Humm...looks like you are a new member and the new member banner did not appear! Welcome! I tip my hat to you.
Hope you enjoy your renewed interest! Looking forward to all the pics.
Post some before and some after, and then the after and before being it is a renewed garden? It may help some people decide a few weeds can be overcome and the garden reclaimed!

Hi everyone! I remember you well Fred. Gerry, Tinker's was a garden forum that was mainly geared towards daylilies but it did have other forums also. We made great friends there as I'm sure you all are here. Seedfork I'll see what I can do on the pictures. I know it's a great testimonial to the toughness of daylilies. Goldenrod, nutgrass, and horsetail rush oh my! Lol!

Thumb of 2014-04-21/Kabby/8a9785 Weeded Munson bed.

Some beds will be returned to the lawn after moving the dls. I am downsizing, it was too much for one person 4 yrs ago. I have to set limits. Many tags lost but I have kept good garden maps.

Kabby,
Looks like you have already done a ton of work. It is so easy to get overloaded, once you do all the fun is gone, then it actually becomes work instead of a hobby. My wife keeps reminding me to be careful and not overdo. Those weedy beds are looking pretty good, it shows it can be done.

Kabby, have a look at Seed's recent article. I think a good alternative is to combine daylilies with other plants. That way something is always happening and you are not a feeling like a drudge to daylilies.

I do my garden like Seed's and I have 100's of daylilies, which I am quite fanatical about. I run chillies, eggplant, chard, squash, sunflower, herbs, asparagus, paw paws, tomatoes, radish, and annuals between them.

Gleni kind of like this? Smiling

Thumb of 2014-04-21/Kabby/2a822a

I do have companion beds, I have crinum, hedychium gingers, phlox, OT and asiatic lilies, amaryllis, canna, even banana trees mixed in with my daylilies. I am dismantling some of the daylily only beds with my downsizing. These are almost exclusively Munson beds with a few Spider/UF only. Hmm tomatoes in my companion beds, I kinda like that idea.
Hi to everyone, thanks for the welcome! Natalie I see you are owned by a Golden also. Hurray!
This is for Lisa, I'll start adding the pictures when I'm back from work in 3 days.

This is Sylvan King Spider. Can't you just see this thing skittering across the floor?
