It's a beautiful Iris Jan -- no matter what it's name is. If I were taking any new Irises this year, I would surely step up to the plate. But I'm trying VERY HARD to be on a hiatus until I get my beds in order. Maybe you'll have some to share next year? Smiling

Welcome Jan! Welcome!

One other iris you might check is Syncopation. It was introduced in 1984 which may be a bit early but it has continued to be popular because of the beautiful colors. Check this link for additional photos http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie....

Congratulations on the new grand-baby!

Jan,

I might be able to give a home to some of your 'megabucks' irises. I would prefer to get them from you in late August so they have time to size up and to keep them from having to endure our hot summer months before they have gotten established. Maybe we can reconnect in a couple months? I have a friend who might take a few too.

I couldn't see the picture of your vase, so I'm just going by your description. Good luck finding what you are looking for.

Thanks for the Syncopation links, Sue. Marilyn, Syncopation sure looks a lot like Megabucks! My iris has a pronounced orange beard, and it's hard to tell from individual photographs. For now, (phew!) , I'm calling it Megabucks, unless someone convinces me otherwise! Smiling Although the date 1986 for Syncopation more closely resembles the time I got it - thinking it was '85 to '88. We'd moved to the land in '86 and I planted them within a year or two. To muddy the waters even further, the lovely lady I got them from, and who has passed away, as I recall, had called it by a woman's 2-word name. Which is why I originally thought it was Gladys Austin. But it isn't because, as Dave has pointed out, the beard is quite different.
I've had a trade offer and maybe we'll have another Sherlock to help i.d. it!

Muddymitts, I'm sure I'll have some Megabucks to share this year and next year.

Syncopation is close but has tanner standards and a dull yellow beard. Megabucks has yellower standards and a coppery beard. But note the veining at the haft, next to the beard. Megabucks has a light/white background spreading outward from the beard further than that of Syncopation.
So I still vote for Megabucks.

Jan, I would like some of the NOID/Megabucks if you still have some left.
