Seems to me there isn't much difference between the two, the new version is just more up-to-the-second accurate if accuracy is needed by anyone.

I like new bells and whistles, though I do know that change is not always popular. But then when we get used to the change, we forget what used to be anyway. Smiling

I really like "how long ago". It means something to me. I never trust timestamps to be in my own time zone, so I ignore them.

... I just noticed that forum post timestamps all include the time zone (PDT) so I guess I COULD pay more attention if I cared.

But as with dates, I'm too lazy to do the subtraction and risk having to add or subtract 12 hours for AM-PM. Pretty non-technical for a self-professed nerd, I know!

Laziness trumps nerdiness.

Scary, but that made sense to me. Crying I think I like the new way as well. Hilarious!

Would not want a time stamp to give the impression to newbies or anyone that an inactive thread shouldn't be used... Just my thoughts...

I think Charmaine made a good point!

Dave decided to give this a try. He's been right at least 99.99% of the time Thumbs up Acorn .
Why not give it a chance before condemning the entire idea.

greene said:Thinking about new visitors to this site. They will be able to see how active and recent the threads are. So many times a new member will make their first post on an 'ancient' inactive thread. Thumbs up

It will also give some indication of 'whose online' at the moment.

This 'new' way of posting the time/date may be very helpful to the newbies even it it makes only half of the existing members happy.

I agree, I know how confusing it is on cubits, many of them are not active but still there. You can wait weeks before you get a reply.
This to me is great! Thumbs up I now know what is going on and when. Keep it simple is my way of life. I love when others help me do that. Thanks @Dave.

I agree but it's also rather nice that Dave lets us discuss and offer our opinions of changes he makes...a true democracy. Thank You! Dave for all you do for us Thumbs up

I've stated my reasons. There is no need to keep repeating that I like a thing. [I still don't like Brussel sprouts - all the talk in the world wouldn't change my mind on that one!]

I'll step aside now; will check back tomorrow to see if there are new opinions, pro or con, that get added to this thread by more people. Y'all have fun now.

I didn't mean "let's debate this and everyone give their yes or no vote."

Let's live with it for a day or two and see how we feel after that.
