I had the Lilium longiflorum growing in full sun as well as some that sprouted in the shade of a large Schefflera tree but the ones with more sun bloomed better.

As I think someone stated earlier, Asiatic Lilies grow and bloom in shade so perhaps you were "gifted" with one of those beauties? The foliage looks right:

I know.
I have some in the front yard.
I'll just have to wait.

Although, the lilies that are peeking up in the front yard don't look exactly like that.
And they started later.

I think I have that plant growing in the shade in my garden, but I can't remember the name of it. Does it send up stalks of dark blue berries? I'm trying to Google for the name, which begins with an "N" in my mind, but I'm getting nothing but blueberry results, of course.

I remembered. It's Dianella. Doesn't start with "N," of course, but at least it does have an "N" in the name. *Blush*

These pictures were taken last year in May, they are all in the same bed. These are just some of the plants in this bed, but they were all planted for a shady area.

Tricyrtis (Toad Lily) is at least something I know I've TRIED.
But the leaves don't look the same.

The word "Dianella" isn't familiar and I'm trying to find pics of the foliage.
It MIGHT have come to me under a common name in a trade.

I am absolutely positive that I put no asiatic lilies in that bed - but if a squirrel wanted to carry one all the way from far off, I'd never know that it did until I found it there......

I didn't plant this yellow Asiatic lily in the shade but we do have squirrels so I guess they did it.

Here's a collage of the plant in question and the Asiatic in the shade. There's a big difference in the shape of the leaves, the length and the shiny quality. At first I really thought it must be an Asiatic lily but now I doubt it.

Thank you, because I doubt it, too.
It's raining out today or I would have gone out to take comparison shots of my own asiatics emerging.
Tomorrow, if we get lucky.
I have so much to do out there before the weekend!

Did you look at the leaves on my Asiatic Lilies in the above photos, they also don't look like yours. Rolling my eyes.
Edited:

Not Dianella (Flax Lily) or Tricyrtis (Toad Lily) both have different foliage:

Not that that hasn't happened here before!!!!
But I have a vague memory of it from last year.

One year I was so confused ALL WINTER about these daisy-ish leaves that stayed green all winter and couldn't remember what on earth. They were in POTS for heaven's sake! I watched them all spring and when they finally flowered, they were weeds! Apparently there had been seeds in something else I had in pots and they produced these weeds in the pot.......

Mind you, I am on a low fixed income and I adopt plants from wherever I can, including picking up some that were set out for trash..... I don't know where I got those pots, but there they were.

Even this spring, I let the garlic mustard sprouts get big enough that I could be SURE that's what they were. And I pull and EAT them, I do! More nutritious than kale - and better tasting, too!

Seedfork - I did see your Asiatic lily leaves. Most of ours are more like yours! Loved your last photo - appeals to me as a Strawberries and Cream combo!

Lilium lancifolium is a good possibility. They produce small bulbils in the leaf axils that get everywhere if the climate is amenable. It looks like a dead ringer for the ones at grandmothers and they don't all bloom year to year. Best way to find out if its a lily is to dig one up. Smiling

Not an asiatic lily.
Not particularly attractive either.
Never saw a flower.
Perhaps I'll pull it....
But still curious as to what it is.
