Hurray! Oh, that sure looks alot like mine, Kousa!! Does it have fragrance? Mine has fragrance.

Pwinget, that was the first thing I thought, mine is just about 36" tall! The flower is so heavy, the plant droops.

There is one other that looks mine, called Duchesse D'Orleans; its fragrant and has the indented outer petals like mine that kind of look like hearts. http://www.arcticalaskapeonies...

what do you think?

wildflowers, I see what you mean. Bulbsdirect from Holland doesn't sell it, though. That's the problem with peonies; several are difficult to distinguish (and there are a few with identities in dispute).
However, we have an advantage. We know from where you bought them and the company's listed merchandise (assuming it is complete and correct). Edulis wins. (or does it? :)

Now we have to worry about your beetles because if you're going to grow peonies, those critters need to stop eating those buds!

Ah ha! That is a very good advantage. Edulis Superba it is! Thumbs up

Yes, the beetles! Little shiny black beetles!! I've seen them before in the garden... Apparently they don't care how long I've been waiting to see those blooms!!!

Hi pwin. Thank You! I have been lurking the forum for awhile enjoying the wonderful photos everyone had posted. Just gorgeous beyond description. I was going to say that your NOID peony does look very close to Duchess de Orleans than Edulis. The center of Edulis is more fuller than the Duchess. Edulis is a darker pink than Duchess. Sorry to confuse you more now with this info. I guess it can be either.

Hmmm... well, I was mostly wanting the name to add a picture to the database and proudly put my peony in my list of plants here on ATP.

I wonder what the chances are that they could have had the Duchess back in 2008. Mine sure does look most like it. Ho hum.

Today both blooms are showing off their centers.

That's true! Maybe they did. Sorry, I didn't think about you having bought it 6 years ago.

Write to the business and ask if they have the inventory records from that year. If you give them both possibilities, I'd be willing to bet they can tell you if either was offered in that year.

You all have been so helpful! Thank you so much, Pwinget, Kousa and Lovemyhouse!!

That's not a bad idea, Debra! I bet I could ask them from their website? Maybe even send them a picture?

Thanks again for your help, you've definitely guided me in the right direction! As I'm learning, it's not always so easy to identify a peony! But, whatever the name, I think its a lovely flower and one that I've always wanted to grow.
