Wow, Kathleen, we could use quite a bit of rain. I have sun to trade. It's looking like a hot, dry summer here. Sprinklers are trying to keep up with the water loss, starting with a deficit before the irrigation water came down from the mountains. Unwatered vegetation is already crunchy and stunted.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

I hate to hear that, Mary. Stan's brother lives down by French Creek and they had lake front property yesterday. Their lower pasture was under about 6 feet of water. Good thing is that it drains away fairly quick.

It just seems the the Holiday Weekend is so early this year. Seems like it should be week later. And I still have things to plant.

Yes, winter was too long and too cold and too snowy. It lasted much too long.

Another load of plants taken back to their "summer homes". One more load to go; these will be the Madison contingent. I need to spray them this afternoon and while that dries off on them I'll begin the job of hauling my own stuff out. THAT job is certainly not for the faint of heart. Green Grin!

Kathleen, I must say that was quick service. The rain started an hour or so ago!

Talking rain here tomorrow and Sunday. We'll see.....................

Got all the "boarder" plants back to their "summer homes". Now to just finish hauling all MY stuff out. *sigh*

Had a call for a milking job in July...........have to turn it down as it is during fair week and the SU and I are involved with that quite a bit.

Mary, happy to share. We had a chill, dreary day yesterday, but a couple of sunny days coming today and tomorrow and temps up into the upper 60s and maybe the upper 70s next week. Stan hasn't done any fitting yet. He plowed the oat piece last fall, but hasn't been able to get on it with the disc. Now he's thinking first cutting, but is afraid that instead of the 8000, he'll have to use one of the 4 wheel drives. Farming is such fun..................

"Farming is such fun...." Sometimes it is far more fun than necessary. Last week my brother in law parked his truck and stock trailer in it's usual place in a flat spot on a little hill, and I don't know where his mind was, but he didn't set the brake, and he put the transmission in neutral. Minutes later he had poured himself a cup of coffee, looked out the window and his truck was gone! OOPS, BIG OOPS! Gravity at work. It took four corral fences and a power pole to stop all of that weight. They spent the next day repairing corrals and getting the power pole to stand up straight again. He'll never hear the end of it. The good part of this story is that it didn't run over any animals, and if it had rolled the other way it would have gone over a cliff.

Neighbors are shearing sheep today. Another way to have a lot of fun!

Oh my gosh. He sure did make himself a pile of extra work. But good that no one was hurt including any animals.

Things happen.

Stan mowed the first of the hay yesterday and he and SIL Marc, who came after school, are chopping while granddaughter Jessie milks the cows. She passed her drivers test yesterday on the first try, so can now drive herself to work. I'll miss the chats that we had when I took her home. Back to haying, the fields are still quite wet, so Stan put the four wheel drive on the chopper rather than the 8000. It will make less of a mess.
