Marilyn, that one is Red Ribbons. Smiling

Noticed a neat "child plant" browsing the "random plants" feature of ATP, it's "Monkey Hips". A taller yellow, the flower form appears very consistent with RR unlike some of it's other offspring found in the Daylily Database here.

Fred - Wow! You really hit the jackpot with the Dragonfly Dawn and Wings of Joy hybrids as well as your Lilian's cultivars! I have 4 Dragonfly Dawn x Dragonfly Dawn seedlings growing from Rich (LA) this year and I can't wait to get blooms to use the pollen or pods to do some hybridizing of that beautiful cultivar! Amazing blooms on each and every one of them! Lovey dubby

Here are my first two blooming "dogs" of 2014. Parentage is unknown as seeds were not kept labeled (my fault) or were purchased or given to me without any history of what their parentage might be. I am taking photos and keeping record of their stats. Don't know if I will actually consider naming and registering any, but I do want to name some after some special people in my life. These daylilies are a little over a year old and blooming for the first time or second season.

This one has a lot of buds on a single scape (so far). I am tagging and keeping track of each plant as it blooms. I have over 300 seedlings, but some are not a year old yet so will not likely bloom this year.

The other seedling that bloomed today in the partial shade garden. The scape is on the taller height. Not too many buds:

Nice Becky, things are looking up.

Haven't posted in several days due to Michele keeping me busy with the Region 12 spring meeting which was outstanding. She and the Pensacola Club did a great job.

Fred - I love the Dragonfly Dawn genes. I have seeds I got from Rich on the LA that are DD x DD. I want those genes to use in my own private hybridizing. Your hybrids of DD and WOJ are outstanding! I love that you are using those genes to cross with your Lillian's hybrids. Very, very impressive! Exciting to say the least! It will likely be next year before I see blooms on DD x DD.

Michele - CRASHING THE CREASE x WILD DREAMS has such beautiful colors and pattern. How can you enlarge (increase) the size of a bloom from 3.5" to something like 5-6"? That bloom is beautiful, but can you imagine it larger! I love them all!

Natalie - I don't see any dogs in this thread (except my own)! LOL! Dragonfly Dawn, Waves of Joy, and so many other patterned hybrids have really changed daylily hybridizing for the future! It's mind-boggling what blooms can be created!

Natalie - Thanks! Maybe my blooms aren't "dogs" ... more like Plain Jane daylily blooms, but I hope to eventually have more interesting blooms next year. Here in my area, any daylilies that aren't the typical commercial yellow daylilies is considered unusual. I've probably got the only color-filled daylily garden around. LOL! Thanks for your generous compliment. Smiling

Natalie - It's not a dog as long as it's not the commercial yellow daylily dogs. Just wondering .... how did the following blooms (after the very first one) look? Did the blooms get better as the plant aged? I don't think it looks THAT bad, but I do think it's terrible that you had to wait 3 years to see the first bloom. In all honesty, I DO have some patience for some plant species taking years to bloom, but daylilies are not one of them. Epi's (Epiphyllum) ... yes! Daylilies have to bloom for me in one year or they get threatened to be yanked up! LOL! (You'd be amazed at how many decide to bloom after my verbal threat! LOL! .... and a little more fertilizer and water added. LOL!)

Becky, I didn't think it got better. It was so ugly to begin with that I just couldn't love it! When we moved, it was going on 4 years for many of my seedlings to bloom for the first time, and I left them all behind. Figured I'd just start over. I had a couple that were pretty. Not worth doing anything with, but I liked them. I just didn't have room to dig them up and bring them with me. Also, I couldn't remember which ones they were, and nothing was blooming when we moved, so I took all the tags off of them and left them.
