i just returned from san carlos, mexico. i never knew that there was so much tropical-ness just five hours from tucson. i sat on the beach with coconut palms loaded with coconuts. lots of singapore plumeria in bloom! papapya fruit still on the trunk. tons of mango and royal poinciana trees. gorgeous royal palms! organ pipes galore that make our national monument look stupid. utter beauty in a small mexican-american town.

here are some quick panoramas that i put together. enjoy!

24/7 lighting! i think this plumeria likes being under the HPS street light at night. it was blooming well with lots of seed pods. oh, and let's not forget the huge mango right next to it.Thumb of 2010-12-13/tucsonplumeriaz/66fea4

Ya mean we're just *north* of the tropics where all of that beautiful greenery is florishing? Amazing that the terrain and temps and conditions change so much in just a short few hundred miles.. Oh .. I guess it's the elevation above sea level. Sometimes I think the Mediterranean climate is IDEAL... not the High Desert. Thanks for the tour, Dete. Loverly. I've never been to Mexico and at this time, have no plans go visit. Too scary, re the news.

WOW... those all look great... the last time I saw a Singapore that big I was in Fiji where they are almost a weed... the ones in town were as tall as, or taller, than the 2 story buildings... and the mango was cool too... saw huge mangoes when we were in St. Martin... just amazing... glad to see you had fun on your trip Thumbs up
