I've had the purple min bearded iris for decades.Thumb of 2014-05-03/Jewell/10e087 I have them along the paths and in the patio. A couple of years ago I treated myself to a few more colors of the minis. Because of the heavy rains this spring the a few of the new varieties have gotten rot. Allium starting….

Question on the allium. Mine always get yellow tipped leaves that look very unattractive. This also happens to my agapanthus…..thoughts? Suggestions? I'm thinking they need extra nitrogen? Would fish fertilizer help?

Love Lithodora but it didn't make it through the winter. Only good to -10 I think. Even -20 plants are iffy here.

I almost had my hand on yet another lithodora yesterday, then reminded myself how many I've killed... Julia, do you keep yours in pretty sharp drainage? I'm thinking that might be my problem, and now that I have that rock outcropping area MAYBE I can try it again.

Deb yes, all my lithadora are planted a top a rock wall. Soil is just on top of all the drainage for the wall. It did take a beating this year and will look nothing like last year but I see it coming back from the soil line.

Lilacs opened just in time to get doused by the rain today! All these came from my mom's yard in Seattle. The light purple is most fragrant. I fear my peonies will just be beaten into the mud before they even open - drat.

I love them all. My favorite tree I guess. But the chokecherries bloom first and the entire neighborhood is filled with their fragrance.

That is so disappointing about the rain and peonies. If those umbrellas that Crickett Hills sells weren't so expensive that would protect them.

I did just that, with cup of coffee in hand! But eventually dumped the camera and did some planting, too.

I think I love shady moist gardens best. Nah... love them all. But there is something so soothing about a cool green garden bed with touches of color like iris.
