Anyone in TX ever successfully grown sweet pea flowers? I can't even get them to germinate.

Sweet peas are usually sown in the fall to bloom in early spring here in Austin. It's too hot in summer for them to survive here. Not sure if that answers your question, but I remember my grandmother having gorgeous sweet smelling sweet peas in MS. I tried to plant them in Feb. to come up in spring here, and was unsuccessful. Here, they are planted in the fall.

Its a good idea, mine won't germinatein the fall either. Maybe it WAS my soil, I had trouble with any type pea. Hopefully, this fall will be better. Have seed packets ready!

Bubbles is right. Plant in fall. If they still don't germinate, try soaking in water overnight or scarifying by rubbing lightly between 2 sheets of sandpaper. Older varieties seem to have stronger scents. Good luck.
