Can you help? I just purchased "Somewhat Elegant" and "Mystic Image" from the LA. Hurray! The confusion is with Mystic Image. The LA listing, the AHS data base and ATP listing all say (Pierce-G., 2010). I found it listed on Floyd Cove as (Pierce-G., 2011) and one other site as (Stamile 11). The AHS, ATP listings are correct, correct? Confused I would say the others are just typo's...What do ya think?

I'd guess it was registered in 2010 and introduced in 2011. Or it's a typo...

The difference in the year is when it was registered and when it was introduced. Most hybridizers submit their registration before the Oct deadline so it will get added to the checklist (and the info available in the AHS database) when it is updated in May. Anything submitted before the October deadline will have a registration year usually one year before the introduction date (unless it is a fall introduction). Example is what you have 2010 registration but 2011 introduction year on hybridizer's website. Hybridizer's use the introduction year on their websites.

Also the difference in hybridizer names is that Stamile used to own Floyd Cove nursery and sold it to Guy Pierce so some of their intros will be under Pierce-G while others will have Stamile (because it was one of his) or it may be Stamile-Pierce.

@ Michele. What date do I use on my garden sign? Also what exactly is the "Check List" for? A publication of Daylilies that are registered each year? I ordered the AHS 2012 Hemerocallis Cultivar Regisgrations book. What't the difference? Confused Confused Confused

Some people use introduction date on their signs. I prefer the registration date, as that is the official date used by the AHS in all publications. Yes, AHS is required to print a hard copy of the registrations each year in our capacity as the official registrar for the genus hemerocallis. The 2013 Checklist of registrations from last year has been out for about a month.

I see Floota already responded, but I use the hybridizer's intro year on my plant tags since that is who I buy them from (mostly) and I have their catalogs and invoices with the intro year. It also helps me also keep up with when I bought them.
