Full Sun to Partial Shade. They always seemed like very easy to grow plants, treated like cannas and bananas.

Bill, down here in FL they are widely used as landscape plants in partial to full shade. Could be we get just a little more intense sun than Dave does in TX. They like lots of water and do fine in the dappled shade under oak trees.

I have a whole bunch of them, and the one that blooms the best is in nearly full shade under a huge bougainvillea. Seems to take a few years for them to get big enough to bloom, though.
