This semp which I purchased as 'Gloconda' is doing some strange things. I was looking for other pictures of Gloconda, and I think this might be a wrong ID. When it was young it did look to be the correct plant.
Thumb of 2014-05-12/goldfinch4/9c6e89

This year it just looks too red.
Thumb of 2014-05-12/goldfinch4/dc5b4a

But the thing I found really strange is how many of the offsets seem to be getting stripes in the leaves.
Thumb of 2014-05-12/goldfinch4/ae07c3

I think this one is really cool!
Thumb of 2014-05-12/goldfinch4/3e38b0

@valleylynn @JungleShadows @banker07 anyone - what do you all think? Gloconda or not?

Chris, we only have two summer-photos of Gloconda and it is not very popular in german collections;

I've asked our photograph for a newer spring-photo and will show it here;

I know nothing about that variety and we all know how different photos can be; there are some differences between the clone we have on our homepage and yours - but that can be caused by different quantity of sun or differences in soil;

the main appearence looks good - a mainly green variety with long cilia at the leaves;

some red colour in spring isn't unusual for such variety;

you have a very nice plant - it looks very pretty Thumbs up

but I don't know if our clone is the right one Confused

it's really common and absolutely nothing special - I like yours more Big Grin

Chris,
I don't have that plant but just a thought. It may be turning back all green from outside inward and the stripe is all that is left of the red. See if it doesn't disappear soon. I have a Raspberry Ice that does that.

Thanks Peter - that was fast! I like mine better too! The pictures don't do it justice. The colors are really bright and you notice it immediately in a bed of semps. I got it in mid-summer last year and it remained green the rest of the year.

Interesting thought Cliff....I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

JC, would be great if the red stripe was permanent on the leaves!

I agree with Peter. It won't be long before it will be all green again. What a lovely semp. Here is a photo of Gloconda in spring colors. http://www.smgsucculents.com/S...

Lynn, it's not mine - it belongs to Beatrix Bodmeier;

here is a summer-photo:

Thumb of 2014-05-17/banker07/7cbeb9

and this one is from the homepage of Volkmar Schara - I don't know any other german source for Gloconda;

Thumb of 2014-05-17/banker07/39e932

I know that André Smits has it in his collection - but there is no photo of it; and I guess that Volkmar gets his from André...

It will be interesting to see what Chris's will look like in another month or two. She came into spring colors much later and we did, because of her winter weather this year.

yes - but the red colour comming up from the middle is a fact; it faded after early spring and becomes more green;

the other clone we have is a green typ with big brown edges in early spring; this colour faded too....but that is another "species" of cultivar;

Lynn I guess there's a misunderstanding....sorry;

the clone with the red colour at spring I've described is that one from Chris;

in europe we have only the other one I've described as second; it has no red colour at spring and so it is another clone indeed;
