@RobertB would you please also add the flower size to the data box. I have to say, I have never seen this one bloom.

It is close to Tobas Fire but a tad more red, I will measure it tomorrow when it opens fully, it smells very fruity.

Your very welcome! Mine started out great... but then the thrips appeared (never ever had a pest problem before now) and now they aren't doing as well as last year. I've been reading everything I can in here nodding but some of my blooms are half gone and it's so stressful... they are my babies. Smiling This is an AWESOME site!!!... lots of great info!

I had thrips on some of mine this year too. I used Bayer Rose and Flower spray. I generously sprayed the bloom bud area and it has significantly slowed them down.

Hmm... Thanks Robert!! I've been really scared to put anything on them except some Insect killing soap by Safer and was thinking of making a batch of white oil in a big sprayer and try that but I had sprayed a large Scheffelara with neem oil & a soap concoction a couple of years ago and it's still on the leaves.. so was leary of using something like it again. We do have a bottle of Bayer rose spray but wasn't sure it was a good idea. I even spoke with several local plant people and they are clueless as what to do. The local extension office doesn't have anything on them either (guess it's the area I'm in) so I've spent quit a bit of time researching. If you have used it with good luck and your blooms look like that... I just might try it tomorrow early evening and see how it goes. The insect killing soap seems to be helping a little, but not enough as there were still some crawling around earlier. Thanks again Robert! I tip my hat to you.

The soap spray and neem oil never seems to work for me. I'm sold on bayer products at this time. I had terrible white fly infestation last year on my coconut palms and Bayer has a systemic insecticide that you just pour around the base. It is still early but I have not seen a one yet this year.

Hmmm do thrips leave when the rainy season starts. The brown ants love my plummies.

Don't know Gigi this is my first dance with the thrips. Confused

Slaughter Pink. The bloom buds are pink while the flower is white with a yellow center. I saw a rather large tree in full bloom last year absolutely a beautiful sight.

New first time bloom, Cancun Pink. Traded cuttings with someone n California and this cutting had an inflo with bloom buds so this is a bit of a cheat..

The color looks lavender and they fade to the whiter color after a few days. The scent is a musky cinnamon .
