Yup!

This is OT, but I'm posting this here since I know @midnight21 aka John is following this thread - and his hobbies are gardening and aviation.

When I lived in Connecticut I was feeling mighty proud of my garden: spring bulbs, Kwanzan cherry tree, Hostas, blueberries, elderberry, raised beds for vegetables, fruit trees, triple compost bin, rabbit hutches...and so much more.

I (not so) secretly wished to see what it looked like from a bird's eye view, addressing every small plane which flew overhead, saying, "Please take a picture."

One day an industrious aviator sent a representative door-to-door offering a choice of photos so we could see our yards/gardens/neighborhood as seen from the plane. I happily dished out $75 for that one!

And now we have Google Earth! @greene

@greene I wonder if that was the same itinerant aerial photographer who wandered by here!? Heh, same price, and I bought one, too! And somewhere around 6 months to a year later, he came by and just GAVE us a print of an alternate view he had taken. Nice guy.

Could be the same guy, or maybe there was a club or organization and this was the initiation. The images from the plane were so much clearer than what can be seen on Google Earth or Google Maps.
