Yes, I agree 'Stand By Me' sounds like a winner! 'White Christmas' is beautiful but I hear it is a slug magnet. If I get it I will definitely put it into a pot.

ViolaAnn,
Really enjoyed the photos of the Hostas, inspired me to go out tomorrow and take a few updated photos of mine. I did take one photo today of 'Winter Snow' it is doing so well and I am so proud of how it is looking in only the second year.

I hope yours come through soon Caroline. BTW, did any of the seeds germinate for you? I had quite poor germination on the seeds I started myself. I may dump the soil all in a place in the garden and see what happens - I might get some mystery hostas. Rolling my eyes.

Love all your pics Ann!! I was silently giggling about your Blue Ivory comment -- I have had mine 4 years as well and low and behold I have a 2nd pip showing this year as well.... they should re-lable this one from a slow grower to a snails pace grower

Christine, I'm keeping my fingers crossed about that second eye. I had to really feel around to find it a couple of days ago. I sure hope it doesn't just dry up and not open. I have another that's VERY, VERY slow too - 'Sitting Pretty'. It was new in 2007 and didn't develop a second eye until 2011 and it still has just two eyes. And it's not under my Linden tree. I've noticed that plants under it seem to grow more slowly than in other places. 'Blue Ivory' is, perhaps, a bit too close to the Linden.

I was just scrolling through your pictures and realized that my 'Remember Me' never showed up! I had it for several years and it was doing well last year. Maybe I moved it and forgot to make a note of the new location. I'll have to look around for it.

I hope your 'Remember Me' shows up. With its bright yellow leaf centres, you should be able to find it if you moved it. BTW, do you take regular pictures of your garden? I try to photograph everything about once a week if possible. And more than once, that late season set of pics has saved my bacon when I can't find plants in the spring. As long as I take of pic of it in the new location, I can usually find it.

Took another set of pics yesterday as they hostas are changing so fast at this time of year. I've got about half of them cropped. Here are a few.

Ann,

I haven't been taking pictures like I should. I mean well, but when I get out there with my camera I notice all of the weeds. So, I put my camera down and pull weeds! Unfortunately, the weeds are winning Grumbling

Don't let them win. But seriously, try to ignore them when you take your pics. Do you use a mulch? It does help with the weeds though it may help out the slugs.

I'm trying without any mulch this year. Most of my gardens are on hillsides so the rains and watering move the mulch on top of the plants. My goal is to have the hillsides covered with plants, so if there are weeds you won't see them!

'Nolan on Ice' - my own seedling from 'Outhouse Delight'. VERY slow growing.

'Obsession' - I wasn't thrilled with this plant in the garden and gave most of it away. But the eye which I kept in a pot has done quite well.

Orange Marmalade' - very slow grower for me, but it's close to my Linden tree and I've noticed that everything close to it seems to grow slowly.
Thumb of 2014-05-25/ViolaAnn/c46bf5

'Paradise Island' was badly attacked by slugs last year and came back small. I dug it up just to ensure the soil was OK, enriched its hole with new compost and replanted. Am hoping it will grow better this year.

Did you know you can upload more than one pic at a time? I didn't until I accidentally did it yesterday. They don't always upload in the order you want; so you need to preview.

'Peppermint Ice' - the Hosta Library shows two distinct plants under this name. Chris from Hallsons thinks I have the correct one. And mine seems to have slightly rhizomatous tendencies.
