How Does Your Garden Grow?

By TBGDN

Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockleshells and pretty maids all in a row. (All smiling, of course.) This old nursery rhyme leads us to believe there was an orderly garden decked out in flowers and pretty maidens lined up in a row! But, read on for a different train of thought.

Oh how I envy your garden! It reminds me of growing up on the farm. Of course, I hated all the work back then, but it would be a labor of joy now.

Looks like you've got a well-designed plan and it looks great. Happy harvesting!

Thank you Vickie,
As a kid on the farm we always had to pull weeds & work in the gardens and fields. I hated it back then too, but now I can't seem to stop. We've had so much rain this week that I can't get back outside and I feel like I am trapped inside. Our irises and lilacs are blooming in the rain and it's impossible to take pictures.
Again, thanks.

Leon, wonderful article! Living in AR and FL I miss the lilacs and their fragrance, however, we do have gardenias! As one who has had family members in the military since the Revolutionary War, I thank you for your service.

Thank you Jean. I feel strongly about our military men and women and their need for our support. They keep this country safe, and are way underpaid (IMHO) In my honest opinion. Lilacs are in full bloom now, but it has been rainy here this week and we can't get out to enjoy them or take pictures. Again, thanks. Smiling
