Btw the Gouramis have chosen their favorite Lily leaves and there is some happy "frolicking" going on underneath those....the slight Algae bloom doesn't seem to bother them at all.

Look what greeted me this morning - a large bubble-nest, courtesy of one of the Golden males.

Give out the cigars, we have tiny tiny fish fry!! They are in the most protected spot, front right corner under the Lotus!

Well, if they ALL make it, I will bring them to the Aquarium store in the Fall. Mind you, some of the Paradise Fish are very protective of certain Lily pads too, blowing more bubbles....

Great, Ursula! Brought back memories of the days when I had to play midwife to the kids' guppies while they were in school...had to scoop them up and put them into the "nursery" tank or Mom would, well, you know.....eat the poor little things.

Jean, I know what you mean! Except in my case, those fish didn't belong to the kids, they were mine. Lots of them!

I wish I had taken pics of the biology teacher's fancy tropical fish today to show you. They are fabulous! He has a tank of cichlids too.

Update on our pond story:
The Gouramis have been very busy, there are babies of different ages all over the place, the smallest ones still being protected under the Lotus. You may NOT pull out a leaf or clean up some algae in that corner without having Daddy Golden Gourami firmly attached to your finger, as experienced by both of us!!
The Fish have really colored up nicely as expected and they are doing a good job keeping the pond free from Mosquito larvae and other bug-stuff.
I still feed them a couple of times daily, it is also a nice way to see them this way.
