Impressive!! They've been very busy this year.
No fish but a critter has set up house in my lotus 'pond.'

The Gouramis transitioned easily from pond outside to two 40 Gallon tanks in the greenhouse. I already dropped off two good batches of this year's babies at "Fish Town USA", but I may have to thin out the bunch one more time as the babies grow.
The fish are always coming forwards in anticipation of being fed every time I walk into the greenhouse. And that would be a lot.... very cute and they are fun.
I noticed last Winter that many of the smaller Orchid species did better than usual placed over the then single tank, surely the extra humidity came into play. I want to show you this year's set-up, how I grouped things using small shelves.

Are those shelves suspended from the rod across the top? Hard to tell with all the orcxhids. Cool set up.

Add the fish requirements to the orchid requirements and I see you have your hands full. Excellent set up but lots of work. I hope this winter all I will have to do is slide a few windows closed. That and then there is the mango tree and all of the other tropicals in the garden. Groan!

Carol, yes. These are closet shelves for cleaning stuff or over the door shoe- shelf and I simply hung them from the very sturdy steel bar in the center. I used to hang a regular shelf there, but I like the combo better. Good to place mounted and small potted Orchids.

Jim, that's what keeps us hopping?

And Kathy will have frost tonight? We will come close here tonight and tomorrow.

It was down in the 60s a couple of nights this week. That's a good thing. I'm out planting all of the things I bought during the summer today. It was nice and cool this morning but I'm going to half to stop soon due to the heat. There is not a cloud in the sky.

Yah! Frost! They are in, but can I get to them? They will be in what I call "shipping mode." I will be hard pressed to organize for watering tomorrow! I'm leaving the cyms out with towels and a tarp if the wind dies down!!!! The orchids were flying all over the yard while I moved them. And my hippeastrums are still in the ground and wet.

One of my 7 yr old students and mother came by to pay me and got really into helping me move orchids! Talk about great timing. And a month's paycheck to boot!

I just looked at our forcast and see no 90s for at least the next 7 days. It looks like 86 or so for highs and lows in the low 70s. If the humidity stays down, we're in business. I worked in the garden today and loved it. This weather has arrived about two weeks early for us as well.

75 here with low of 50 tonight. Yes, early cold already.
Just heard on the news tonight that the North will have a colder than average winter and Chicago will get double their normal snowfall.

I just realized that this thread has been moved to the Pond and Water gardening forum. I suppose it is more appropriate here. Hopefully you all won't mind some Orchid related stuff on the side every so often, especially now that the indoor season has started?
I am now away from my home computer, but tonight I will be happy to pull out pictures from this season's Waterlilies.
I only regret that our pond-season is so short, since the gouramis can't take chilly temperatures.
Waving hi to you on the forum, Smiling
Ursula.

Akkk! It was 48 on my porch this morning! Maybe this will spur my Cyms to spike. My water lilies are going dormant as the sun doesn't reach them any more except for a little while in late afternoon. Thumbs down
