Today's surprise! This passiflora x belotii (P. alata x P. caerulea) was in my my garden in a pot all summer. But my small Rose of Sharon grew so big that it was in the shade. So as soon as it moved into the sun last week, it did this...

That's beautiful Kathy! I hate to be a "negative Nelly", but that's another one that is a pest here. Where we don't get cold winters they just take over everything. Killing heat we have, killing frost...once every 30 years!

Well,
I took your advice Jim, and went out and picked up that nasty looking and foul smelling fungi..it had
quite a large root system and while I was out getting soaked, I looked for more and found them...everywhere!
Ended up almost filling a kitchen sized trash bag! Lots of fruit fly like bugs in and around them. YUCK!

My local extension agent has identified it as ' octopus stinkhorn' and Jim, you were absolutely correct in your
advice to bag it and trash it! Thanks! I tip my hat to you.

I'm surprised you couldn't smell it. Good work, I hope you got it all.

Duranta is blooming in a couple of different parts of the garden. I even saw it next to the bird-of-paradise.

it's really beautiful, Jim...if you get seeds can I have some?
I love that the colors are so clean, the white is white and the purple is, well, purple!
On the one that I grew this year it's not so clean cut.
