I know originally this lily was not fertile and at some point was converted to tetraploid. My question is, which one are they currently selling? Does it depend on the company or do you think that they are mostly selling the tetra version? I just got some this spring and since I never see it specified in the catalogs, I was just wondering if mine was "breedable".

I doubt very much that the one being sold now is the tetra version. I bought a tetra Black Beauty from S-W Lilies two years ago and it was considerably more expensive and listed specifically as a tetra. I was told it was the last they would have for some time.

Most companies are selling the diplo version. Only a few ase selling the tetra type. After what I have been told diplo BB are not pod fertile but it's a little pollen fertile. But since I don't grow any diplo OTs than diplo BB I have never used it's pollen. But S-W gardens have the tetra type for sale.

I think the common version is triploid. It has to be mutated to make it tetraploid.
