Iris virginica, aka Blue Flag Iris, is native to Florida and blooming for me out by the lake.

The bad news is my Piccabeen Palm (Archontophoenix cunninghamiana) has died of the cold for the second year in a row. I will not replace it again. I found it like this this morning.

It has Jim, it's a beautiful day here, the birds are singing the air is not frigid, could be warmer though, and the ground is
soft enough that the weeds come right up! I love the picture above with the mailbox post...I can see the daisy, lily, larkspur,
2 different kinds of iris, daylily (thanks Susan!) and some unidentified plant that I started from seed last year, if you look
long enough , you'll see Summer!

Yes, summer is coming. I had the A/C on full blast in the car this morning on the way home from church and I have it on in the house in the afternoons. It has been a strange year with an all time record cold in December, a cold to normal January and a mild February. March has been normal to warm so far. I am the lead off speaker at the University of Tampa's spring plant sale this weekend so I need to prepare for that. All of the MGers are coming to my house as part of a tour on the 5th of May. I hope the lanai conversion is finished by then but am beginning to worry about the lack of action so far. Lot's to do.
