These trees was growing in Galveston, Texas. They were about 15 to 20 feet tall. My first thought was Acacia, but I can't get a positive match. Seed pods are about 5 or 6 inches.
It's been bugging me b/c I *knew* I had seen this before & I have, although usually one sees them in pink or red blooms but I have seen the white but not very often. People usually go for the eye catching colors of pink or red.

Not it. The leaves on Calliandra haematocephala are pinnate. The leaves on this one are bi-pinnate.
