Lindsey, I really need to take a new picture, but here is an old one from some years ago. The fat root is now a lot fatter and the now more numerous branches are more or less pendant. It is an oddball plant, indigenous to South Africa. Right now every tip shows buds.

Oh boy!! Hilarious!
Seriously, I have a bunch of Pachypodiums and I do like them for the nice/interesting growth and they do bloom beautifully, provided one lets them go through their proper dormancy.

Are Clivias scented?

Lindsely, the reason that Clivia is so tall is because it is a houseplant, reaching for the light. Here, they are shade garden plants, outdoors year round.. I have 4 different orange ones, 1 yellow, and 2 un bloomed seedlings, all gifted ( I won't spend that much on one). All but the seedlings are in pots, scattered around my yard (the seedlings are in the ground), and none of mine , or any I've seen get that tall. They bloom periodically throughout the year. I have 1 blooming, 1 in bud, and 2 recently finished, but my yellow one got hit hard by the weather and the snails...it's looking BAD. Location, location, location!

Only my yellow is this tall and they are all in the same conditions which is inside shade. Although the peach is trying to grow taller. This yellow was tall when I bought it and continued to grow instead of bloom for the last 4 years. I have no idea how old it is. Good luck with those snails!! Grumbling

Ursula, I'm pretty sure that your Pachypodium succulentum IS weird enough Hilarious!
It's like a giant sweet potato growing on top of the pot, with grafted crown of thorn - like- attachments!
Thank you for sharing that gem.
Carol, I could only dream of living somewhere...where clivias grow outside!
