Beautiful stuff Kathy, is that a standard Saucer Magnolia? It is too cold here for mine, it only blooms a very few around base below snow line.

Janice, the Irises are exquisite and some of my favorite outside blooms. Now if they could only make the blooms last all summer, are there any rebloomers in this group?

Sad to say that when you live in our zones, Ken, rebloomers don't rebloom. I am a member of a local iris society for years and years and hear all the chatter.

Wonderful irises, Janice. Looks like you had a great day and your pic of mom is better than the article! A great Mother's Day gift! What fun!

I esp. like historic TBs and have quite a few here. Right now my passion for beardeds is MDBs (miniature dwarf beardeds) and I'm looking to get more. I know several hybridizers too. You will see that my eternal iris passion is for beardless. But this year I am actually excited about my beardeds because I moved most of them into a hot and sunny spot. I haven't seen them bloom in years so I am really excited to find out what I've been buying all this time! I also put in some new SDBs.

We call the Magnolia a tulip magnolia. Didn't know the saucer name till just now. But yes that's it! Today must have been it's peak. I came home and raced in to get my camera and took lots of pics. I also have a new yellow baby magnolia (not open yet) and a huge star magnolia up near the road.

That is one fantastic looking tree Kathy. I have had one of the little girl series magnolias, 'Ann', I think but it was tiny when I got it and really hasn't grown much. They are supposed to be much hardier.

Magnolia X loebneri ' Leonard Messel ', the pink star magnolia does very well here, should be in bloom very soon.

Had some fun shooting my Erythroniums today. Looks like I have 2 colors of yellow. The inside of the E. japonica has deepened.

So far there is no sign of the Cyp. reginae in the bog, but I see lots of Spiranthes in the bog and at the overflow.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
Cyp reginae may still be there. Gently dig around. They like lime and mulch a few times a year. Their roots grow between the dirt and mulch.

Have not planted the new Iris yet. It rained last night and waiting till things dry out a bit.
Ken, there are no rebloomers in this new bunch. I do have a grouping of 6 varieties that are reliable Fall rebloomers. They are easy care, no fuss plants, that's for sure.
Carol, I love your garden!!
Kathy, I can sympathize. I remember the trouble I had getting TB Iris to bloom in our Cape Cod gardens. Your gardens are magnificent! Love the Erythronium! And the expanse of Mayapples is wonderful.
Ursula, the Calanthe is gorgeous!!

My calanthes were growing in the fall so I slowed them down by putting them in the cool room, but then they stopped growing! Now they are just sitting there in a warmer room with the bletillas not looking good (but one blettilla has a spike!!!!). I hope they start growing again. Also the pleiones, and the habenaria.

Thank you, Steven.
That rose is actually yellow. Not sure why it appears peach. When I can, I will try to get a more accurate pic of it.
It's a David Austin rose. It has the most fabulous fragrance.
I'll try to find the name.
