There is a really great hardy hibiscus at work and I was wondering if I could take a cutting of it? When is the best time to take a cutting and how large? Best way to root? Thanks - Joe

Hardy Hibiscus are fairly easy to root. Just cut some 6" to 8" pieces and strip off all but a couple of leaves at the top. If there are any blooms or buds remove those also. Dip the bottom in any rooting hormone, and stick the end in those soil. Water and keep moist, but not wet. It best to place a clear cover over the cutting to hold in the humidity. Place in a bright location, not in direct sun.

Before I made my cloning machine I used a Forsythe Pot for rooting cuttings .. very easy to make.

These rooted in my cloner in 3 days. I always root cuttings after my plants are done blooming. They die to the ground in winter any how.
