My first blooms of the season! A double red fernleaf and Early Scout started to open today, not sure if I'll see them fully open since I'm working 12 hour shifts the next 3 days....There are multiple buds on the Early Scout but only 1 on the fernleaf. Both were planted last fall, the fernleaf was one of the huge roots from Fina. I'm keeping track of the Fina roots to see if they do any better than the typical 3~5 eye divisions. So far not so much but I'll be happy enough if they all have a bloom this year!

I just realized that the NOID called "Fernleaf" I bought years ago really is a fern leaf. The plant is all, well, ferny, just like the pictures shown here. It is going nuts with stems and buds. Can hardly wait.

I wanted to take more pictures this evening but we had a huge rain today and everything is pretty waterlogged and droopy. Hopefully it'll be better tomorrow!

Mary Stella, I'm uncertain myself what is a true fernleaf and what's a fernleaf hybrid. Think they're all really pretty and the foliage is so different from the other peonies that they just grab your attention even though the blooms aren't anywhere near as dramatic as most. Make sure you post pictures of your fernleaf when it blooms!
