I'm going to try to bring them in for the winter. I have a new anti-spidermite song that I'm singing to them.

The red flowers are from a geranium that I added so I could have some flowers Smiling I am pinching, pinching, pinching and pinching the coleus flowers but the silly things never stop trying to flower. They are sneaky and make flowers in the back that I don't see til I turn the pot. Those in the pic have now been pinched onewish.

sometimes they do fight too much... not sure if it's true.. but I read to pinch back further and you might be able to trick them to stop flowering.. I did that to the kongs.. two weeks after I bought them they set buds.. gave the big UGH.. since I know sometimes they don't stop.. seemed to work for those.. I pinched a couple of sets of leaves off .. figured it was early enough for them to recover .. the seed grown ones always try and set seed quick.. the fairway rose I grew last year.. I would pinch one bud off.. and it would set 2 more Grumbling finally gave up on them

That's beautiful, Dahlia. Really, those that are grown from seed flower too much. If you buy those propagated from cuttings, they behave much better in the flower department. Occasionally one will try to flower but can be controlled much easier by pinching.

Next year, try a few cutting grown ones from Rosy Dawn.

Dahlianut that is such a color and beautiful container. And how wonderful that it appears to be a two for one pot. Thumbs up

Good to know about the seed thing, thanks for that info. As a newbie to coleus I will definitely stay away from seed.

Okay, I just went to your link Karen, now I'm on overload. Blinking And I didn't know there are upright coleus and trailing coleus.
I have so much to learn.

Loving the container arrangements and plant combos here! For me, containers are the way to go with Coleus, I just need to invest in more big containers. I love how they get so big and full in large containers!

Karen, I've really enjoyed the cloned named varieties. They are much easier to deal with where blooms are concerned.

I wish I had had big pots like this one for all of them, I couldn't believe how big these got! There's a little table behind that pot that's totally obscured.

Thanks!

Lynn, it's either 12 or 14", but I'm pretty sure it's 14". There are 5 plants in it, but I think 3 would have done the trick.

I love it Neil, I can barely see the bottom of the container.
