That is great David, volunteering is a wonderful thing. I have been volunteering since i retired in 2005, and have met a lot of good people who want leave this world in better shape than they found it.

'Master Naturalist', an interesting concept that could be copied here.

Yes, we are helping our communities and the Texas Parks ans Wildlife too, so it is a win-win.

Yes, the Master Naturalist organization is worth its weight in gold! It helps so much having people volunteer...many times things won't get done if only paid employees are used. And just think how many people learn from it and become aware of the natural wildlife and plants that are out there, especially native species that can become endangered. It teaches about what harm humans are doing to the environment and the consequences of that. Maybe someday I can go back and participate again. Right now, there's so much I have to deal with I just can't, but wish I could.

With all the rain we've had lately, it really has made for a great wildflower showing here too! I'm even finding new wildflowers I've never seen before.

Like this tiny grass, about the size of a Bluet flower and plant.



And one of my favorites, Krigia dandelion. The bees like it too.

What a sweet little grass! Amazing what you'll find if you don't mow! And look closely, of course.
My lace cactus are in "Party Mode". I have to shoo away bees and bugs to get a photo without pollinators. ( Don't worry, they come right back). I liked your bee photo.
The lace cactus flowers in my pasture seem to “glow” - like a neon sign to passing insects. They produce a LOT of pollen.

This little plant rarely grows taller than 8 inches and is 2–3 inches across. The flowers are brilliant purple or rose-pink, 2–5 inches tall and almost as wide. There are 30–50 petals with ragged edges, sometimes notched. The base of the petals is usually reddish-brown. Stamens are cream-colored to yellow, and the pistil has many dark-green lobes, varying in number with each flower.

That is such a stunning bloom!

I believe your grass is a form of annual Blue-eyed Grass. Probable Sisyrinchium rosulatum.

I've never seen Sagittaria lancifolia before. Is it growing in a boggy area? Seems like I've heard of" Sagittaria" while looking for water plants.
