Hello everyone. I went to Salt Spring Island a couple of weeks ago. It was a sunny but cool day. There is one large town towards the centre of the island with an interesting market there selling food and artisan crafts I hadn't seen elsewhere. On the way back, I stopped by Baker's Gardens. He has one garden that includes many plants and another dedicated to irises. I thought you all might enjoy these pictures. If I go back, I can take more pictures as the majority of TBs weren't blooming; I had missed most of the dwarf cultivars.

Thank you! I'm afraid some of you suffered some over-sized images. I think I corrected them all now.

One I especially liked was Battlestar Atlantis - it was massive. I was amazed by its bulk. I loved it. Magic Quest was neat to see, most different of the ones I captured. Deep Currents was gorgeous. He had a bunch of siberian irises I liked. He had told me to return this weekend to get the rest, but ferries aren't cheap!!

Mary Ann, I wish I could have bought a bunch! Though, I have no budget for the garden this year - it doesn't mean I don't cheat He sells the cultivars from his garden and opens it up during iris season for any lucky soul who happens to know it's there and available for viewing! I was hoping to catch Montmartre, but he said this week :/ Did you notice? I saw Rio Rojo.

I think that maybe the return trip to see Montemartre would probably be worth it, if you can swing the ferry expense..............

Ooooh, At the Crossroads is great. And Magic Quest. And New Mown Hay. And .... this could go on a bit.... Great pics. As an owner of Montmartre I can say it is beautiful in bloom. The yellow edging makes it glow.

Montmartre sounds as gorgeous as it looks in pics.

I was wrong. He does sell the rhizomes from his garden. He grows the cultivars to judge how they behave and develop. So I'm going to change what I said above and pretend I hadn't said anything else. I apologize to Mr. Baker, who keeps a fatherly eye on my posts
