Dave and Trish - Enjoyed the podcast! Lots of good information for summer gardening! I sure wished I had a good eye for artistic planning of my yard. I am working on making it pleasing to the eye, but it is such a challenge! Do we have any landscapers on ATP that could give some of us suggestions if we posted photos or a video link of what our yards currently look like?
I would love to see the children's tomato garden (either in video or photos)! Mexico Midgets get that tall???
What is the raised garden bed a photo of that you posted with this postcast? Looks lush whatever you have growing in it!
Also.... I would love to see a photo of Jon's 10' x 10' key-hole bed! Maybe you or Jon could take a photo and post it? This is a "square" bed? Does it have a center area for adding food waste for composting/organic fertilizing? I am really curious about this. Always looking for ideas and I am determined to have at least 1 key-hole raised garden in my yard. I never considered a square key-hole raised bed. I thought anything over 6' in diameter was not as efficient for the keyhole concept?
I look forward to seeing how Jon's hybridizing and seedlings turn out in the future! I hope he gets some keepers from the seeds I sent him as well as the hybridizing that he is currently doing. I have tape on my scapes, too, but mine is for IDing purposes right now. I am probably not going to do any hybridizing this year because I am waiting on the new seedlings to bloom and that probably won't happen until next year. Keep Jon away from the Lily Auction! LOL! I really have to show some restraint when I browse the latest auctions at any given time (and I only purchase seeds on that auction).
Trish - Did you know that carrots are butterfly host plants for the Black Swallowtail butterflies? So carrots absolutely DO belong in a butterfly garden!
Those photos of Katie feeding the cow carrots is too cute! I think the cow would follow her anywhere!
