Thanks! I love it when the greenhouse is so nice and clean in the Fall! It makes it fun to move everything back inside.
I did more moving yesterday and today and the upper shelves and center are filling up. Note that the left side and lower shelves are still bare, but that will change this week.
Here is what things looked like around 3 pm today.

It looks beautiful, Ursula. I'm inspired to go clean the OC.

But yours always looks so sparkling clean, Jim. I was always wondering how you manage to do that without moving the plants out.

I take several plants down and put them on the dining table, then take the windows out and clean them and spray the area with physan. I usually do it a section at a time.

I am also inspired by your lovely clean greenhouse, Ursula. My pool guy power-washed my whole cage, including the patio last year about this time. I corralled him yesterday and he is going to set up a date to do it again. So, I am gearing up to move all my orchids and other plants out, too. Luckily for me, he does most of the work and I just get to handle the delicate operations.

I'm quite sure it made a huge difference, both to my peace of mind and to the health of the orchids. The rain falling through that screening must carry all sorts of 'goodies' onto the plants, judging from the grime that collects on the glass table. Not to mention the 'chids get better light through the clean screen for the winter months.

This is an opportunity for me to create some more display space for the orchids as well. I really like how the metal trellis is working out for some of the small mounted orchids and might go and get another.

Jim, I adopted the Physan spray this year from this thread, at least partially. I hope that will keep the green goo in check.

Elaine, I think it is a good thing to scrub out the growing area at least once a year. I do like Jim's way of doing it in segments, but that gets a bit tight for me here in Winter. I do wash out the trays in-between though.

Yes, Physan helps a LOT I think. I spray the whole cage after the power-washing gets done, screens, supports and pavers.

I have sprayed the pavers in the cage a couple of times this summer and have much less green goo growing on them now. What with rain, humidity, misting every day under the orchids and also spraying fertilizer around in there, the moss and algae just loved it under my orchid area.

Last year I was spraying all my orchids with it, too, once the black rot started showing up. I've stopped doing that, but honestly don't think it did the plants any harm, and may have helped some of them survive. This year, I have not had hardly a black spot showing up! Partly the sanitizing, but mostly I think it is the drier weather we had in July.

Elaine, I have always sprayed my orchids with Physan without any noticeable damage. I do that when they all come in during the fall and then again in Jan./Feb. Like you, I now read that I should not be doing that.

Between Physan treatments, I spray the OC brick paver floor with a strong solution of pool chlorine. It works quickly and the orchids are tolerant of it.

I spray a solution of outdoor bleach, but only just before I start moving plants into the GH's and then again when they are all outside in the spring.

The Sunroom is filling up and so is the approach room to the greenhouse.
Most cooler growers are still outside - many Cacti &Succulents, Begonias, Epiphyllum hybrids, Paphs, Phrags, Schoms, Laelia autumnalis ( budding), Laelia anceps in spike, huge Euphorbia x lomi, Den kingianums, Maxillaria picta and a few more odds and ends.
The Paradise Fish came in today, as we dismantled the pond this morning.

A lovely indoor botanical garden, there Ursula.

I guess you must keep it fairly cool because if everybody grows just a bit you won't have room to walk through the jungle.

The sunroom temp is set to 65 degr, but it gets a bit warmer from the living rooms downstairs which we set as day time max to 68 degr F.
This year I moved the Passiflora into the approach room, in previous years it would just run totally rampant in the sunroom and try to engulf everything.
You know, those plants don't look that large outside in their outdoor spot, until you start carrying them inside. That sprawling Epiphyllum phyllanthus (myself collected in Guyana in the nineties in the form of one piece) behind the TV was almost chopped to pieces because I had trouble getting it from the deck through the greenhouse door.
I like how well some of my Cereus look this year. We had a really good season outside.
I am happy the Fish transitioned ok to indoors and ate this morning.

What a lovely environment you have created there, Ursula. It must be nice to stroll through the tropics when the snow is blowing outside.

Thanks, yes. I love the fact that I don't have to cross a snowy yard in Winter. Nice to enjoy stuff with Coffee in hand and barefoot! Smiling And the music isn't bad either in the greenhouse.

Mozart, orchids and hot coffee on a cold winter's morn. Now there is a nice mental picture.

I'm off to sing at the assisted living home. Be back in a couple of hours.

Here's the west half of our pool cage, all freshly power-washed and so clean! I've moved a few orchids back in, but am moving slowly on this, as we're having some repair done to the screen panels next week (I hope). This area gets patchy morning sun, and in summer I hang a panel of Aluminet down the west facing panel to reduce the direct afternoon sun. I think it's time to leave the Aluminet off until springtime now, too. We've put up two metal trellises for me to hang some more orchids on, as this area gets daily misting (on timers) in warm weather, and when we are away. The narrow area up near the end of the pool is a little more sunny in winter, and the Cymbidiums will live there.

This south end of the cage next to the house has two patio doors adjacent and a nice overhang. This corner will be covered with shade screening to give more shade in the afternoon which should keep it cooler here. (especially with the cool a/c air escaping from the two glass doors) This is where the Phals live, tucked into that corner where I can control how much water they get, and keep them as cool as possible.

I agree I need to look for a trellis like the one in your second photo.! I can move the potted stuff around, but I can't manage the mounted ones as well.
