I have six plants coming by mail from a nursery not too far away. Any suggestions for getting them going in my yard once they arrive? How should I prepare the ground for them?

Make sure you have good drainage and lots of sun. They don't like to be crowded so give some room between them. Don't overwater but don't let them dry out until established. Kudos for plant the milkweed. Hurray!

Ok, so they've been in place for almost a month. I planted six... Five have visibly grown. The sixth doesn't appear to have changed at all. It's still green, it just hasn't grown.

Any ideas?

I planted a couple last fall that I'd gotten from Santa Rosa gardens. I was beginning to wonder if they'd survived. They were very slow to come up, and they still aren't very big, but I noticed yesterday that they are finally beginning to set some blooms...Finally! Seems like everything is later than usual this year. Shrug!

True, Tara!

It occurred to me that the one plant didn't look like the recent rains had been hitting it. (It's kind of under the eave of the house) So I gave it a good deep watering, and the next day it was sending up some new growth. Smiling
