Sweet dancers, I can't wait for my two granddaughters to invite me to a dance recital.

The Den. bensoniae is absolutely lovely, too, look at all those pretty flowers looking back at you!

Thanks Jim and Elaine!!
Those two were really fun to watch! And I was glad I remembered to bring the telephoto lens along, it came in handy yesterday.

I edited my post regarding the Embreea rodigasiana to add some links. (I was wondering how closely they are related to Stanhopea.)

That was helpful and interesting, Ursula. Thanks.

A new flower has opened on a second spike on my Blc Hawaiian Leopard 'Mai Ling'. Here I post the new flower first and then the two week old flowers to show the color difference between them. Incredible the way these darken.

That's quite a sepal/petal color change. What term is used for this phenomenon?

I've never heard of a technical term for age related color change. Ursula?

I honestly don't know of a term, but as far as I know whenever Richard Mueller is a parent/part of the parentage you have this color change.

So true, but now that I think about it, my little Richard Mueller babies, the B. Yellow Birds go the other way, they start out ivory/pink and progress through the yellows. Jim's started out more yellow, and ended with more pink.

Here's a really bad flash shot I just took of one of my "maybe" Yellow Birds with flowers at 3 different color stages, top left is almost red with a white lip, middle is pink/ivory and the bottom right one, open a couple of days now is very yellow.

Here's a real puzzler to me, my plant of Richard Mueller itself does not change color at all. They open pale yellow and stay pale yellow.

What are the first blooms with that striking orange lip and what is the next vandaceous plant, with the beautiful, single bloom?

Roberta, so I could even grow the more temps tolerant Rossioglossum Aztec Fire. I did kill a Rawdon Jester years ago, that''s why it looked so familiar…. Hilarious!

Hi Ursula, sorry it took me so long to get back to you on the Dendrobium. It is uniflorum and that bloom is still going on the plant. Nice that it lasts so long!
