They reach 8 ft high and are drought and Sun tolerant. They are their deep red color best in full Sun. They have spikey Chinese red flowers that are somewhat more small and Heliconia meets Canna looking and the foliage is the main issue for many while I love the flowers too.

I have many great rhizomes of these and first off would like to see if an interest is here for them. Smiling

David, consider one person interested. Great color and height potential.

I've been planning a bed involving locally grown hardy bananas and tobacco (among other things). Big red foliage and blooms would tie in nicely.

I tip my hat to you.

I really appreciate the interest you've shared in these Wes and Lin. Thank you for the inspiration, and I really want to show the flowers and actually the rhizomes I'm offering in pictures now.

I just need to go get some new camera batteries for the good camera My phone pictures don't work for me. Smiling I use an older phone and the pictures aren't me. Hilarious!

I'll get back in the next day or so with more pictures and fair pricing and shipping.

Thank you!

David, might not grow here but I'm curious as to what the plant in the foreground of the first pic is?

Reminds me of Amaranth? Just curious.

It is Wes,

They're the young Tri-color and are edible. They're all over the gardens this year yet are a tad later in development? They are doing their thing though and love the Summer.

This old picture is still my favorite and they should eventually get there this year.
Thumb of 2014-06-01/DavidofDeLand/5f6a6c

Developing pictures from this year will be on the way soon. They are now just getting their yellows and reds as of today.

They will grow in Ohio and were a favorite of Thomas Jefferson at Monticello! Smiling

Wow, I hit it!

One of the neatest plants I've grown from seed. I grew several in large pots about 5-6 years ago, fun to watch and lots of driveway inquiries.

David, how would the Red Banana Leaf Canna do in Morning Sun only or in late afternoon mottled sun in my pond? I love the height! My canna do fine so far in the ponds, just not as many blooms due to slow sun. I do love them for their foliage.

Thank you everyone for your interest.

I just got my new batteries and was cleaning and sorting the rhizomes today. They are all healthy with many eyes and are ready to grow!

I think I'm going to weigh the largest ones and then be able to come up with an even balance in weight for fairness;...in other words 2 mediums weighing the same constitute the same price for one order. (kind of like buying Ginger in the food stores)

I will be adjusting shipping price per order after researching shipping cost to each of your personal areas. We'll work through Tree-Mail and PayPal to get them to you soon!

You will love these Canna's and pictures price and more info. coming tommorrow.

Well today is yesterdays tommorrow so this is what I came up with in my Giant Banana Leafed Canna offering:

I decided my hand was a better gauge of what I have to offer then weight.

This is what I'm calling a large Rhizome in the picture below this:

*****************

This is what the medium would look like in your hand:

*****************

This is small in hand:
Thumb of 2014-06-03/DavidofDeLand/d9e478
****************
* large is 11.00
* medium is 8.00
* small is 5.00
