I love the look of the tall one, however I want to compliment you on the progress of your shawl! I'm a DP Texan and I truly love living in Texas and being able to grow all of the tropical type plants. However, here in the land of Oz I can grow some things that I'm unable to grow in Texas. We're going home for a visit June 3rd & I know I'll come back wishing I could grow the gorgeous plants my brother-in-law has, but I can still enjoy beautiful plants here and it all evens out in the long run. Lovely plants are are lovely and beautiful no matter your clime, It's the joy in the growing as much as the viewing. Thanks for sharing

My DH made this cement towel planter for me a couple weeks ago. The current resident isn't the right shape/size, but you can see the planter well.

My accountant wanted a planter grouping of cement drapes so I made her this one, 30" diameter x 30" tall.
Thumb of 2017-05-11/Sundownr/3a94ea
All the drapes were "painted" with extra cement slurry on the inside. The inside bottoms were lined with papercrete for more stability and to weigh them down a bit. Then a copper sulfate was used to stain them the pretty blue color. A clear sealer was applied inside and out to help contain the stain and hopefully extend the life of the draped pots.

They look fabulous. I want to do this with cloth and cement if I only had the time. I bought the bag of cement last year but have not done anything with it yet. Great job. Hurray!

And another WOW! I just stopped by to see what's up and look at that! I want to do this so much - was planning on it for this summer's project, and now have some spinal thing with nerves pinching and pain and stuff. I think I can still do some of it - at least small stuff, after all I do have some lovely pain meds.
Can't complain too loud about how the ball bounces when I'm the one who dropped it.

I would think the black plastic pot, if it is included as the form by which the bottom of the soon-to-be-drape pot is formed, would not be sticking to whatever you drape it on given that the drape doesn't touch other spots to stick to. But I have not done this but would think the hidden black pot that could be included would be more beneficial than not... else, I wonder why the black pot would be pictured?... Shrug!

It looks very good! How long did it take to make that in total, I am considering to do it also ;)

LaurensPasser, Thank you! This project was spread out over time because it was big so I needed to work in the yard. The weather became an issue and I ran out of cloth twice, lol. The saucer (bottom pot containing all the other draped pots) took several days of layering cement-soaked terrycloth towels and hardware cloth then a couple coats of cement slurry.
Thumb of 2017-06-03/Sundownr/90a407

The inside draped pots only took a day to form. The most difficult part of all of this was having to brush on the copper sulfate stain solution (to get the teal blue color) and the clear sealer. The copper sulfate ruined two spray bottle before I discovered it was eating the metal components of the spray mechanism and the sealer gummed them up too. Might have been cheap Dollar Tree sprayer, also.
Thumb of 2017-06-03/Sundownr/939f33

There is a base "ring" under the saucer for better drainage and air circulation. It took some experimenting to find something large enough. We decided on a metal tire rim that had to be cut down. A grinder was used to remove burrs then cleaned up, sandpapered, and then painted and clear sealed.
Thumb of 2017-06-03/Sundownr/6e19ec

The project was more involved than I initially thought it would be, but I'm very proud of the result.
