Perhaps they are a gift from the birds or other animal? I would wait to see what they are. They look so healthy it would be a shame to destroy them until you are sure of the ID.

Still looks like some kind of eggplant to my old eyes.
Guess we wait for the bees to do their thing and take pics of the fruits.
Just in case it is eggplant, you may want to give it a boost of nutrients.

It does look a lot like eggplant... and even appears to have the same pattern of insect damage as other eggplants I've seen this season (the tiny pin holes in the leaves seen best in pic #3). I am pretty sure flea beetles are the culprit.
