Summer Wonder is a crab-apple with purple-ish leaves. I planted it in spring 2009, and it blooms prettily each year, but I'm not sure I've ever seen the blooms change to crab apples. But I'm ok with that. I just like how it looks in the side yard.

Love it, and the fact that it doesn't make crab apples! Those things are so messy that I've refused to buy a crab apple tree. Love the blooms on them though. I'll have to check into this one!

Natty, I'm not saying it DOESN"T make apples - I'm saying I've not seen any on it yet. Not quite the same thing. Of course, my other apple tree has gifted me with one apple a year ever since it's 2nd or 3rd year in my yard, so maybe this one really doesn't make apples.
She's a purty tree... that's what matters most to me.

I also like the contrast of the blooms & the gray/green/purplish leaves. Very nice Mary!
